What is Self-Exclusion?
Self-Exclusion is a voluntary program that provides you with the opportunity to take a break from gambling for a length of time that you choose (six months to indefinite). If you participate, you commit to avoid logging on to PlayOLG for the duration of your Self-Exclusion term. When you take this step, your contact information is removed from all OLG marketing lists and any cash balance in your PlayOLG account is returned to you.
Generally, people who self-exclude feel that it’s no longer in their best interest to keep gambling. To find out if this is the right option for you, you may want to consider:
- Is gambling causing problems with your finances, health or relationships?
- Will stopping or taking a break from gambling help you feel more in control of your life?
- Are you ready to follow through on a serious commitment to yourself to change your gambling habits?
The decision to self-exclude should be carefully considered. Some people find it more effective to combine Self-Exclusion with other support tools, such as gambling treatment programs, financial counselling and relationship counselling.
